I used LinkedIn as a dating site for two months. If you’re into having some dirty fun with partnered professionals and are willing to play the long game, LinkedIn is your next great dating app. You can find an affair AND the possibility of a better gig. (Attractive, right?) I use LinkedIn to look for work and attempt to network. LinkedIn is a business networking site, not a dating site and it is important to make a very clear distinction between the two. Jul 23, 2014 Sponsored Business Content. LinkedIn is not a dating site! Stop this nonsense. Dear Esteemed clients, In a bid to serve you better, effective 30th April we moved our AAR Makerere Clinic from Ham Towers to AAR Plaza.

LinkedIn used to be my favorite professional site. I would network, read great articles and connect with amazing people. But over the last year, it has changed for me. It appears that for some, the professional platform has turned into a dating site.
My inbox and even comments on my posts have gone from professional, intelligent conversations to slimly propositions and remarks from men. Men I’ve never met before or even had a conversation with have called me “Hun” and “Dear” countless times.
Here are a few of the messages that I’ve received.
“Hi, hun. You are so beautiful. Please fly down to see me and I’ll take you out of a nice dinner.”
“Alison, you are so beautiful, come and meet me. I will buy you coffee and if you are a good girl, I’ll even give you a kiss on the cheek.”
“I am amazed by your beauty, but I can’t keep my eyes off looking at your chest.”
“When are you going to allow me to take you for a ride on my motorcycle, you won’t be sorry, hun.”
“We must meet for a drink, you won’t be sorry.”
Okay, first gross. Second, you don’t know if I am in a relationship or not. And third, you look desperate.
It truly baffles me that these men think this will work. Do you honestly think that calling a woman “Hun” who you have never met before is going to score you a date? Do you think that by telling her that if she’s a “Good Girl” she’ll get a kiss is the way to win her heart?
No, that is not going to get you a date. And I have to wonder how many of these men are married, engaged or dating someone?
Not only does it make you look slimy but it is not good for your professional reputation.
It could damage your business. According to a Forbes article, you could be courting a liability suit. In a lawsuit filed last June and reported by the Insurance Journal, a mid-level financial services professional identified only as Jane Doe is suing a unit of SunTrust Banks after a recruiter who had been trying to interest her in a position then began to send her inappropriate sexual messages on LinkedIn, including a photo of his genitals.
And as a publicist, I can tell you that this is one of the worst things you can do for yourself and your brand. You must be careful with what they say, do and send on social media or texts. Messages, texts, photos, and videos do not disappear. Always think before you act.
One final piece of advice for the men looking for love in all the wrong places. If you want to find a woman to date I suggest you head over to Tinder,Bumble or Match.Com. Leave LinkedIn for the professional networking site that it was created for.
Have you ever flirted with someone on LinkedIn or been the one on the receiving end? Please share!
Do people actually use LinkedIn to scout for dates?

I can see that the strongest reason to do so would be the large amount of verifiable personal information available here, as compared to the imaginative stuff that passes as fact on social networking sites like Facebook.
Dating Site Connected To Linkedin
If one is simply keeping his options open, or if one is so deprived of an interesting social life to have to resort to using LinkedIn to find dates, I’d like to suggest how to maximize your chances of linking up with the girl of your dreams:
Linkedin Being Used As Dating Site
1. List every school, college and educational institution you have ever been a part of.
Were you involved in a project with a neighbouring school? Did you collaborate with students of another college for a science experiment, or did you participate in an exchange programme? The more institutions you say you were part of, the wider your circle of acquaintances, because LinkedIn only lets you interact with people who have a school or organization in common with you. And unlike the organizations you worked at, which might have a finite number of employees, schools and colleges take in a new batch of students each year. Whether you prefer the older women, or would you rather catch them young, educational institutions will let you connect with women from any batch you choose to.
2. Make a reference to every single place you worked with
Yes, even the place you did your internship at, and the organization you were kicked out of. While school and college acquaintances might have transferred to another city or a different part of the world, chances are that employees at an organization you worked at are still in your city, and there’s bound to be at least one attractive woman who you missed talking to because she works at the organization’s head office.
3. Flesh out your profile, but don’t blow your own trumpet too openly
…and this will stand you in good stead with both potential employers and potential dates. By all means include your best skills and accomplishments; do throw in the hobbies that make you seem like a well-rounded individual, but beware of going overboard. They say only liars give long explanations, while the truthful communicate facts.
4. Do your research about her before you make your first move
Once she accepts you into her LinkedIn circle, take time to analyze the information she has up on her profile. If you both have something in common, that’s the best chance of gaining her trust. Do you know anyone in her list of acquaintances who could speak in your favour? Do you both share similar interests? Is she in the same line of work as you? Initiating a conversation based on employment opportunities or queries about her employer will seem more natural than blatant compliments.
5. Don’t ask her out, ask for her advice
We all love telling others what to do, and we can’t resist describing what we did to reach our current position at work. It’s just common sense then, to use human psychology and the feminine craving for attention to further your own goals, especially since an acquaintance is three times as likely to meet you if you ask her to help you get into her place of work, than if you openly ask her out. Ramit Sethi, the 30-year-old productivity and personal finance guru, teaches that people are gratified when asked to assist someone in planning their career, but so few people ask for help. Offer to take her to lunch at a time convenient to her, in exchange for letting you pick her brain.
6. It might not always work, but keep trying
Linkedin As A Dating Site
Not every woman will agree to mentor you. Some might not be comfortable with meeting a virtual stranger and will offer to answer your questions over email. Others might limit the interaction to one date. However, aren’t those also the odds of success when you meet women in person? Here too, the wider the circle of your contacts, the more women you have access to.

And if nothing else, taking a woman to lunch might land you a real job opportunity. With LinkedIn, you can’t go wrong as long as you do your research, only, here’s your doing research about dates instead of jobs!
